Better lying down than seated, better eating dumplings than anything else

An oft-repeated phrase Gaomama’s mother used to utter. Though not knowing its full meaning, it left a deep impression in the then young mind of Gaomama – that dumplings are the most delicious food of all. Wheaten food is the main staple in northern China, and among the staple food entries dumplings are the main highlight. A few decades ago, dumplings were served only during the Chinese New Year celebration. Over time, dumplings were consumed beyond the Chinese New Year as well.

Gaomama grew up watching her mother make all sorts of wheaten food cuisine, and so developed a special feeling for dumplings. Each and every dumpling she makes carries the thoughts for her mother who has passed on, as well as concern for her children living overseas. One day Gaomama came to Singapore in reunion with her children. At the sight of her children satisfied with dumplings she made, Gaomama smiled...

Gaomama wants to share that taste of homely goodness with other children who have come overseas, and also introduce this renowned traditional culinary – dumplings to Singapore. Come savour the taste of mum’s cooking!
